Art Deco Engagement Rings

Art Deco Engagement Rings are once again in vogue thanks to the recent Deco resurgence.

Brides-to-be are becoming more vocal when it comes to telling their boyfriends' what style of engagement ring they favour - they figure if they're going to be wearing it their whole lives, they want to love it.

And women want to be different, to be unique and stand out from the crowd, yet be classic and elegant at the same time.

They want to express themselves and the jewelry they choose to wear is an extension of their overall look and style.

Art Deco engagement rings are in hot demand particularly because they meet the needs of today's modern woman - they're both unique and elegant.

Art Deco style is quite eclectic, which suggests that the different styles would appeal to a variety of different women, without duplication.

They're also in limited supply (at least the originals; Deco-inspired rings are readily available) which makes them all the more desirable.

Characteristics of Art Deco Engagement Rings

One of the biggest jewelry trends to come out of the Art Deco era was bold colouring - emeralds, rubies, sapphires, yellow diamonds were popular stone choices.

Traditional diamonds were also quite popular and typically set in platinum or gold (white, yellow or red).

Probably the easiest way to recognize a Deco engagement ring is by its angular or geometric shape. Triangles, rectangles, squares and oblongs were the all the rage during the Deco days. The classic Princess, Emerald and Baguette cuts are your best bet if you want an Art Deco style engagement shape.

And for the unconventional bride-to-be Art Deco offers a some unusual options as well: engagement rings embellished with onyx, pearls, quartz and other non-traditional materials are rare, but well worth the search.

Also, look for an Art Deco wedding band with a zigzag or chevron pattern in it to complement the remarkable engagement ring.
