The innocents of the time before the great upheavels in world events.

by Bill Russell
(Georgetown , Texas)

The art, signs and lighting of the Twenties and Thirties reflect a dream quality that displays a simple innocence of the people of the times. The drawings of men and women of the era bring forth the emotion of good times, elegance and a spirit of happiness. I love how lighting was used to make buildings glow in an blend of colors and generate a feeling of gaiety and good times. These qualities are what I love of the era and hope to convey as I assist in the remodel of an Art Deco building.

Art Deco optimism
by: Anonymous

After the war to end all wars, the aspect of Art Deco was to signify peace, unity and optimism. That was what the French were trying to convey in this New Style or Modern Style as they called it back then. With the advances in technology and travel, the world became smaller and thus, Art Deco became the first international style of design. The "Expostion des Art Decoratifs et Industriel Modern" in 1925 was meant to bring hope to a ravaged world.
