Christ the Redeemer (O Cristo Redentor) was built between 1922 and 1931 on the peak of the Corcovado mountain, in Rio de Janeiro. Its streamlined, vertical lines and geometric cross-shape
are representative of the Art Deco style. The statue is one of the most famous examples of Art Deco in the world and was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 1997.
